Youre best bet to actually earning from self publishing, and is a mistake many people forget to do, is advertise for your book before it publishes, and after it has been published.
Given alot of people now turn to social media for entertainment, you’re best bet for gaining and audience for your book would be to go on, for example, tiktok, create an account based around yourself, or your novel, create posts about what youre writing, what you’ve done, your characters, when your book releases, aim the hashtags towards your desired readers, e.g booktok, lets say specifically horror booktok fans. Gain some followers and you should hopefully get somewhere.
Dont forget to try and reach out to your local book stores, see if they can put a poster up for you advertising for it also. As even though people mostly purchase online nowadays, you can still capture some readers who go into stores to read/buy, to come see your book.
